Cari compagni, gli insegnanti palestinesi nelle scuole pubbliche hanno intensificato le loro proteste contro il governo, che non ha rispettato un accordo precedente con il sindacato palestinese degli insegnanti, in base al quale avrebbe dovuto aumentare gli stipendi. Ieri circa 20 mila insegnanti hanno effettuato un sit-in davanti al Consiglio dei Ministri chiedendo migliori stipendi e diritti, mentre oggi e domani si tiene uno sciopero generale nelle scuole pubbliche. Le proteste sono anche dirette contro i vertici del sindacato degli insegnanti, che non ha rappresentato i diritti e gli interessi degli insegnanti, ed ha perso ogni legittimazione ai loro occhi. Il governo ha diffidato gli insegnanti dal proseguire il loro sciopero “illegale” e questa mattina all’alba 22 insegnanti di varie località sono stati arbitrariamente arrestati. Temiamo che ulteriori misure repressive possano essere prese contro questo movimento di protesta di massa, che è già stato chiamato la “rivoluzione degli insegnanti”. Gli insegnanti chiedono stipendi che preservino la loro dignità e vogliono eleggere nuovi rappresentanti in modo democratico.
Essi chiedono la solidarietà e il sostegno dei loro compagni in tutto il mondo.

Dear comrades, For the past week, Palestinian teachers in governmental schools have been escalating their protests against the government, which has failed to respect a former agreement with the Palestinian teachers’ union, which should have improved their wages.

Te fear that further repressive measures will be taken against this mass protest movement, which has already been called the “teachers’ revolution”. The teachers want wages that will preserve their dignity and they want to elect new representatives in a democratic manner. They need the solidarity and support of their comrades around the world.
